AN AMARANTE HEALTH EXPLORATION

Can I really “boost” my immunity?

The immune system is a complex network, not a single dial you can simply turn up.

LEARN FIRST. CHOOSE WISELY.

01 / THE BIGGER PICTURE

Before the ingredient, understand the question.

01

Adequate nutrition is important for normal immune function; clinically significant deficiencies can impair it.

02

Vaccination, sleep, hygiene, movement and individual health circumstances also matter.

03

A product claiming to “boost immunity” should be evaluated against a defined outcome, not just an appealing phrase.

02 / WHERE SCIENCE HELPS

What the evidence can—and can't—tell us.

Nutrients such as zinc and vitamin D have established biological roles. That does not mean routine high-dose supplementation prevents infections in people without deficiencies; effects depend on context, dose and outcome.

Different populations, doses and outcomes can produce different conclusions. A promising biological mechanism is not proof that a product improves health.

03 / QUESTIONS THAT MATTER

Three questions worth asking next.

  1. What outcome is actually being claimed—fewer infections, shorter symptoms, or just a biomarker?
  2. Was a deficiency present in the people studied?
  3. Are the formulation and dose relevant to me?
